The Board of Directors Meetings for Sylvania Community Services Center, Inc. are held the
3rd Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. at the Sylvania Senior Center, which is located at
7140 Sylvania Ave.

Sylvania Community Services Center, Inc. was incorporated in December 1976. It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency created for families residing in Sylvania, Sylvania Township and the Sylvania School District for the following reasons:
1. The agency would consolidate programs under one organization and reduce duplication of many services.
2. The school could concentrate on basic education. SCS would be responsible for non-credit courses in community education.
3. In 1984 SCS saw a need for school-age child care which the school system was not interested in providing.
4. Both township and city did not want to organize competing recreation programs. They wanted to create on agency to provide a vehicle to avoid this competition and control limited facility space by channeling programs through SCS. (In 1994 the recreation department separated from SCS and formed Sylvania Recreation Corporation.)
5. In 1978 the Senior Center joined SCS after being organized in 1974 as the Sylvania Action Interest League (SAIL), which met in a local church.
From an active Senior Center to a high-quality child care program, SCS strives to meet the growing needs of this community. SCS is both progressive and proactive. The staff continually strives to improve the quality programs and services already offered by keeping abreast of the latest trends across the country.
