"You Only Pay When Your Child Stays!"

More than 600 children are enrolled yearly in the state-licensed, SCS Childcare Program. Creative activities, interesting field trips and a caring staff ensure a positive environment that nurtures and enriches children. This program is available year-round for children enrolled in Kindergarten through grade five. It is open weekdays from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The Childcare Program is closed on all legal holidays.

The Childcare Program was first introduced at the Burnham Building in 1984. The Burnham site remains the primary site; however, since 1989, it has expanded to satellite locations at Highland, Whiteford, Central and Hill View Elementary Schools.

K.I.D.S. - The Kindergarten Interim Daycare Service is available for children enrolled in Kindergarten who need extended care before or after their half-day class sessions. Children are bussed to the Burnham Building for hands-on developmental activities.

E.T. – Extended Time is designed for children in grades 1 through 5. Children attend before school beginning at 6:30 a.m. and after school until 6:30 p.m. E.T. is available at the Burnham Building for the children from Sylvan, Stranahan and Maplewood Schools. Whiteford, Hill View, Highland, and Central Schools have the before and after school E.T. in their respective school cafeterias. When schools close because of inclement weather, E.T. remains open at the Burnham Building, providing a valuable service for parents who work. Local radio and TV stations will have school closing announcements. (Look up "Registration for Childcare" on SCS Internet).

Summer Day Camp – Our summer day camp runs from the second week in June through the third week in August for children ages 4 thru 11. We provide a morning and afternoon snack. Please call us at (419) 885-2451 for more info.

Burnham PreSchool – An early childhood development center for children 4 to 5 years that includes preschool/surround care. Northview PreSchool – An early childhood development center for children 4 to 5 years located at Northview High School, 5403 Silica Dr., Sylvania. This preschool/surround care is licensed by the Ohio Department of Education and follows the current school year calendar. Daily hours Monday thru Friday are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a hot lunch provided. Pay Only When You Stay with daily and weekly rates available. Northview PreSchool is a joint venture of Sylvania Schools and Sylvania Community Services. For more information call (419) 885-2451.

All-Day Programs for Childcare – Your child must be registered in our regular childcare program to be eligible to attend our all-day programs. Childcare is available at the Burnham Building when schools are closed for in-service, parent/teacher conferences, inclement weather (also delayed school starts and early dismissal days). The all-day programs that are set in advance by the schools are all prepaid and your child must be registered in advance with the SCS office. (Your general registration made at the time your child is enrolled is not adequate.) Themes are planned for the all-day programs. Field trips, special guest speakers and snacks all relate to the theme.

NOTE: SCS Childcare is open for the Winter and Spring breaks. We are closed for Martin Luther King Day, President's Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the day after, Christmas Eve and Day, and New Years Eve and Day.
