The Sylvania Senior Center has various opportunities available to those willing to donate their time and talents. Some of the areas of opportunity are:

Greeters

Welcome guests to the building, direct them to their group and offer tours.

Office

Volunteers answer phones and direct calls and guests to the appropriate staff member.

Special Events

Volunteers assist with event set-up and take-down, as well as provide assistance throughout the event. Some events require hosting duties such as the welcoming and guiding guests.

Computer Coaches

Volunteers assist students by ensuring they are keeping pace with the computer teacher.

Community Needs

We are a resource for volunteer opportunities within the greater Sylvania area.

Collections

We collect a variety of items to meet the current need of the community and donate them to the appropriate local entity.

Dining Room

Volunteers assist with meal service, preparation, cleanup and registration.

Special Sales

Volunteers assist with ticket sales for special events or raffles.

Knitting/Crocheting

Items are made by our volunteers and donated throughout the greater community.

Bingo Callers

Call bingo for our bingo players who play twice a week.

Committees

Volunteers represent peers in planning by taking part in committees.

Gardening

Volunteers maintain a plot in the organic vegetable garden; assist with planning, planting and maintenance of our flower garden.

Sewing Arts

Volunteers create special items/clothing for donation in the community, create items for fundraising efforts and assist with wardrobe needs during the Follies.

Woodshop

Volunteers create products for special events, make repairs for public needs and create custom items for special needs in the community.

Be sure to check the volunteer board in the hall for current volunteer needs and sign up in the green folder in the office if interested. We have in-house and community opportunity referrals available. The monthly newsletter has a current listing of volunteer opportunities.
